Let me tell you a story...

This little blog is about me, Hailey and my pursuit of happiness. I've decided to move on from modeling and to a new chapter of my life, artisry. I paint, I take pictures and I enjoy junking for vintage goods. All of this is done with lots of day dreaming in between.

I have a shop on Etsy that I just opened up in Feb 2009 and I am excited to see where it goes from there.

Thank you for your love and support.

Will it be all for not?

Riverton Arts Festival is just a few days away now.   I am still working on many things, trying to be ready.  So many things to work on, and each thing is so time consuming.

Here are some of the items I will have available while supplies last at the show:

Photography:
sizes include 8x10, 8x8, 5x5, 12x12, 12x18, 20x30

A small selection of handmade frames, some from barn wood, new materials, and up-cycled.

Jewelry:  designed and all handmade by me usually incorporating some Siberian Elm tree:  This would include necklaces and my cute rings.

Paintings:  Several of my paintings

Houseware items:  decorative hand painted magnets, cottage style clothespins, desk art pieces, birdhouses, signs, etc.

I hope you can come see me and all the other artists there.  Here are the times and days (i think, they didn't include the times on their mailer, so this is judging off my info of when I need to be "ready to go").

June 4th 5 p.m. - 9 p.m.

June 5th  12 p.m. - 9 p.m.

June 6th  9 a.m. - 9 p.m.

The event is being held at the Riverton City Park - 1450 West 12800 South Riverton, UT 84065

Email me with any questions.  But I'll see you there...I hope.

I will be placing the items I take to the show on "inactive" status on Etsy, if there's something you want, and you wont be able to make it to the show, order it now.

Love life

I didn't do any art yesterday.  I missed it all day.  Darren and I spent all morning with good friends and had a nice Thai lunch.  Later in the afternoon we went for a hike up Bells Canyon to the lower waterfall with our friend Paul.  It was such a lovely hike, although I felt like I was dying.  As I gasped for air with my lungs burning and my heart pounding I couldn't help notice how absolutely beautiful it all was.  It's been a couple years since I've gone hiking in the Wasatch Mountains of Utah and I suddenly felt guilty for letting so much time pass since I'd been up there.

The flowers were blooming, like as though an artist had been up there throwing bits of yellow, purple and blue paint and every shade of green about.  As the sun made it's way closer to the Oquirrah Mountains the shades continued to change, becoming richer in shade as the darkness prepared to push it's way in.

The waterfall was the most awesome waterfall I've ever experienced.  There was so much force of water, there was a fine spraying mist that tickled your skin and gave you goosebumps, the roar of the water was powerful and inspiring.  But most inspiring was to get up there.., feeling that misty spray, to see the sun gently setting in the distance with a view of the Salt Lake Valley in the arms of the man I love...  all I could think of was... I love life.

So I am sharing some photos of our great hike.  I hope you all enjoy them and I hope they inspire you somehow in no matter what small way.  And thank you to Paul for taking us up there.

Thanks for reading.

Tree on Tree

So I may have a slight obsession with trees.  But you know, I had to figure out what to do with all these branches around my house.  :-)  Here is one of my latest creations.  This piece is called... Tree on Tree.  I know, very original.  So what we have here is a branch cut horizontally, sanded, painted and varnished.  All designed, cut, sanded, painted, and varnished my me.

It stands about 5 3/4 inches tall, is about 2 1/4 inches across and about 1 inch deep.  Painted on it is a tree, with no leaves.  I find that it reminds me of winter, which makes me think of skiing.  It's very one of a kind and the first of its collection.  It is signed, dated and titled on the bottom.

Come to my online store at www.impulseART.etsy.com to see more of my art or to read more about this particular piece.  I have about 60 items up right now so come browse.  Thanks for reading.

My Logo Debut

My new logo for all to see.  I love the fonts and the placement.  I just love everything about it.  Thank you so much Emily!  Emily was very easy to work with, very open to thoughts and ideas and she was really able to pull it together for me timely and professionally.  I would absolutely recommend Emily as an artist to be seriously considered when looking for any graphic design.

Here is Emily's etsy store:  www.timelesspaper.etsy.com and her website www.timelesspaper.com

Now comes the part where I get to order my banner and business cards for my show in June.  I am still shopping around for the best place to get my banner ( approx 3'x8') and business cards made so if you have someone good and reasonable that you know of, please share!!

I have some new artwork that i've been working on that I will be listing shortly.  I think you'll really like it.  It's stuff I've never painted before and I am very excited about how they turned out.

Thanks for reading.

Amore and Love

Here's one of my newer creations.  I really love them.  They are rings...like the kind you wear on your finger, all hand carved out of old Siberian Elm trees that surround my 1860's house, sanded, brushed with Organic Flaxseed Oil to give a natural color enhancement and treatment to the wood and then topped off with some fun little word like Amore or Love.

I can make any size needed with whatever short word you'd like.  Each piece is truly unique and one of a kind.

Riverton Arts Festival

It's kind of a big deal.  My first Arts Festival.  They say roughly 20,000 people attend the 2 1/2 day event.  And here I am, signing up for it without any idea how I'm going to pull this off.

The event is June 4th, 5th and 6th.  I will be a vendor there promoting my artwork and my Etsy site.  I am really excited to be apart of the event.  There will be other artists there as well so I think it will be neat to be amongst them for a couple days.  There will be musicians as well playing music, 5k run, food, etc.   You can view the RivertonArts site here.

I will be having a childrens activity in my booth too.  I'll make another announcement when the time comes closer.  In the meantime, my lovely Emily (timelesspaper, see previous blog) is designing me a logo.  And I am very excited to see how it turns out.  -no pressure Emily!  :D

Stay tuned and, as always, thanks for reading.

Etsy Favorites

Today I thought I'd share a fellow artist on Etsy whom I have become good friends with.  Her name is Emily and her shop business goes by the name, Timeless Paper.  I just love the things she makes, but my favorites are her paintings.  Come see her shop
HERE.  She also makes "unique paper gifts that will put a smile on your face."

I've really enjoyed getting to know Emily.  I hope you can take a moment to wander through her Etsy shop and her website.

Tree Rings

Hi Friends!

It's been a few days since I blogged last. I've been busy with spring activities the last few days. I got some of my garden planted last night. I planted Cherry Tomatoes, Habanero Peppers, Califlower, Brocoli, Brussel Sprouts...and I think that's it. I still have more tomatoes to plant today, along with some parsley and squash. I'm pretty excited about my garden. I've never had one this big with this many varieties. Starting from seed I still have carrots, corn and radishes to do.

Besides that , I've been working on my Tree Rings when I have a few hours here and there. So far I only have one advertised on Etsy, but several more underway. It's a pretty neat process and I love it.

I start wtih a tree, that I then cut into a log, that I then slice a random size off that I then sand down into a circle that is then hollowed out. From there I finish it off, paint a disc of wood and attach it to the ring. It's interesting and way one of a kind. They haven't sold yet, but I think they will. I think they are pretty and my teenager sisters LOVE them.

It's another beautiful day today so I am anxious to get off work and go putt around in the yard and garden.

Thanks for reading!
